Summary:

Geocent is seeking talented individuals with five (5) years of experience who are interested in an exciting and challenging career in consulting (full-time roles). You will join Geocent’s team of infrastructure consultants and be responsible for providing overall solutions expertise to our customers. This role will include high levels of client interaction and the successful design, implementation, and/or upgrade of several solutions in medium to large enterprise environments. Responsibilities:

•Positioning yourself as a trusted advisor to Geocent clients

•Implementing, integrating and supporting Microsoft System Center solutions consisting of Configuration Manager, Data Protection Manager, Endpoint Protection, Operations Manager, Orchestrator App Controller, Service Manager, and Virtual Machine Manager for Geocent clients

•Implementing, integrating and supporting Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 for Geocent clients

•Implementing, integrating and supporting Microsoft Core Server technologies

•Assessing and understanding client requirements

•Ability to master and rapidly implement new concepts, products and solutions with minimal assistance from Senior Consultants and company leaders

•Working closely with clients and other Geocent personnel to understand and manage project delivery expectations

•Communicating clearly, professionally, and regularly with clients, partners, vendors, and other Geocent personnel

•Ensuring Geocent management and delivery processes are in place and being properly executed on client engagements

•Transferring knowledge successfully to clients through formal presentations and informal training

•Seeking opportunities to continually develop both consultative/interpersonal skills and written communication skills

•Maintaining relevant Microsoft certifications

•Participating in developing and refining best practices for infrastructure projects

•Performing internal projects as requested and engaging in other activities which contribute to the improved performance of Geocent as a company

 

Required Skills:

Optical Mechanical Engineer

Role: The employee is a member of a small research and development team focused on the evolution of Optech’s bathymetric LIDAR technology. The team is developing the capability to achieve 3D shallow-water seafloor imaging, characterization of the water column, and classification of benthic habitat and coastal landcover. The employee would apply mechanical engineering design knowledge to Electro-Optical products development; Control documentation and configuration in accordance with established industry standards; and participate in proto-type design as well as transferring products to manufacturing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of Optech’s Hardware Engineering Manager, accomplish all necessary engineering activities to:

  • Develop and design mechanical elements from the component level to system level and packaging in a high paced R&D environment; Prototyping to Manufacturing;
  • Interfacing with machine shops and custom component manufacturers;
  • Translate knowledge of mechanical concepts to layout in order to provide the  highest quality documents for long term reliability and performance;
  • 3D CAD modeling of components, assemblies and systems including production level drawings.
  • Provide user-friendly documentation packages for R&D and manufacturing;
  • Support existing designs including hands on assembly;
  • Ensure that designs follow industry standards and meet the product specifications;
  • Optimize the design of optical-mechanical interfaces of elements and systems for performance and ruggedness;
  • Develop optical experiments; Perform alignment of optical-mechanical systems; Lead troubleshooting efforts for optical elements for new projects & systems.
  • Collaborate on optical-mechanical design concepts for new projects;

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-2 years industry experience emphasis on design
  • Experience with CAD modeling and generation of machine-shop level drawings utilizing SolidWorks
  • Experience with the operation and safety of class III and IV lasers
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Understand basic optical element terminology: filter types, attenuation numbers, types of mirrors and other optical elements especially the one employed in a Lidar system.
  • Use of off the shelf power meters, laser beam analyzers, detectors.
  • Experience with precise opto-mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with PDM system

The employee is a member of a small R&D team focused on lidar technology. Salary: $20,000.00 – $41,000.00  dependent on experience
